Plot
It follows Cécile, a young woman who spends the summer in a villa in the south of France with her widowed father Raymond and his latest love interest, Elsa. Theirs is a lived-in compatibility, a world of ease and languor. This is a beautiful film about relationships, in this case, slightly complex relationships. Very well written, shot and acted. A hazy romantic landscape on the south coast of France. Interesting character studies. All the actors do a great job, but Chloe Sévigny takes on the most demanding role and does it brilliantly, walking the line between likable and not, loved and not, caring and not. The plot is pretty simple. It has a little twist that stretches things a bit, but it’s still believable and definitely interesting and keeps us interested. Interesting dialogue and a striking score.
