I enjoyed reading James Patterson’s Alex Cross series

Plot

A series adaptation of James Patterson’s novels about the complicated and brilliant detective Alex Cross. Hodge is the third actor to portray Cross, following in the footsteps of Morgan Freeman, who first played him on screen in 1997’s Kiss the Girls and again in the 2001 film sequel Along Came a Spider; and Tyler Perry as the titular character in 2012’s Alex Cross, which bombed at the box office and led Lionsgate to scrap the planned sequel Double Cross.

Aldis Hodge is the perfect Alex Cross

As a fan of the character, when I heard the books were being turned into a series, I was worried that everything I loved about the books and characters would be ruined, as most film/TV series adaptations tend to be. I can say that my concerns were unfounded.

This duality is crucial to portraying Cross authentically

Hodge possesses an imposing physical presence that is essential to the character, who is often portrayed as a brilliant thinker and a man who can hold his own in physical confrontations. His performance reflects a deep understanding of James Patterson’s novels.

His performance is likely to appeal to longtime fans of the character and newcomers alike

He captures the essence of Cross’s character as a brilliant detective driven by a strong sense of justice. Overall, Hodge’s portrayal of Alex Cross combines skillful acting with a strong emotional core, making him a standout choice for the role in the series.

Cross captures the essence of James Patterson’s novels with engaging storytelling, character depth, and a suspenseful plot that will appeal to both longtime fans and new viewers alike
